The idea for a riverwalk in downtown Almonte originated more than 30 years ago, and finally became a reality in 2005.  Since opening, the Almonte Riverwalk, which consists of a series of bridges, has become a destination for nature lovers, photographers, and those who appreciate beautiful surroundings.  Meandering along the banks of the scenic Mississippi River, the walk starts behind the Old Town Hall and continues to the other end of Mill Street, ending in a breathtaking lookout at the site of the old Victoria Woolen Mill.  Through the dedicated efforts of all those who have contributed financially, the riverwalk has become a gem in the heart of Almonte.
